Muko-Jinja is a Shinto shrine located in Muko, Kyoto, Japan. The shrine is known for its beautiful architecture and its association with the Taira clan, an important samurai clan during the Heian period.
The shrine is dedicated to Taira no Kiyomori, a powerful samurai and politician who lived in the 12th century. He is remembered for his strong leadership and his role in establishing the Taira clan as one of the most powerful in Japan at the time. The shrine is also dedicated to his mother, Lady Tokiko.
Muko-Jinja is also known for its beautiful gardens, which include a pond, a waterfall, and a tea garden. Visitors can also see the main hall, which is designated as an Important Cultural Property, and the stone steps leading up to the main hall, which are said to have been built by Kiyomori himself.
